One Watch Challenge: Sweet Sixteen

On Day 18 we now have 34% of our starting field. I have been keeping track and this is who I think is in:

@WatchYourIntruder : wearing the blandest watch in his collection;

@TonyXXX : who wishes that he could wear that Sovereign again;

@coldkey : with the sleeper Citizen;

@hakki501 : a (yawn) Seiko;

@Deeperblue : a non-Cartier;

@chronotriggered : a quartz thing;

@unseenhero : oh look, another Seiko;

@thekris : bold and bronze;

@Davemcc : testing the versatility of green;

@Stephme : a hockey puck;

@rocksinger89 : the brave little Fossil

@Edge168n : a rugged field watch, who knew?

@Velomax : Aurora's grail watch;

On the bubble:

@TheSharperTheBetter : just need to post today; the whitest watch;

@Robair : You may have missed Day One;

@Chunghauphoto : double check, I don't think that you missed any days, they may be posted a day ahead or behind. A lesser Swatch.

I am very aware that the farther that you are from my time zone the harder it is to get the picture on the right day (@TonyXXX proves this every day).

Thanks for participating.  It has been really fun to see the same watches every day in WRUW.

Last week I kept thinking about wearing all my other watches, if only for a few hours. While wounding them I could hear them call to me "wear me, stop this nonsense".

This week I feel an urge to sell a few. Can I manage with only 3 or 4? Am I going insane? I'm a watch enthusiast, not a masochist; maybe those categories don't have to be mutually exclusive?

Best not to give in to any of these thoughs.

Too bad we didn't add an accuracy element to the challenge.  Which watch remained the most accurate at the end?

So, WatchCrunch software developers worked overtime to give you the Gallery feature and just about all that you have in it is your Citizen.  That seems selfish.  Don't you want to let people see your other watches?  Isn't that why you have them? Just wear something new tomorrow.  It will brighten your day.

Would that be your low-key strategy to embarrass Seiko?

·

I, for one, really like my hockey puck, but I can't deny that I am getting sick of it, I just ordered new watches today and I won't even get to wear them!

Next week you will only have 10 watches to follow, I feel a sudden decline in numbers is just around the corner 😉

·

The JLC Master Geographic has the same WR as a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical.  As far as I'm concerned, this thing could have been strapped to Monty's wrist during Operation Husky.

That's how it works right?

Oooh, follow me down the rabbit hole!

My Citizen is accurate to ±5s per year. I haven't set it since we transitioned to summer time, and it's still spot on. Too bad indeed 😜

I don't keep doing this because it doesn't hurt, I keep doing it because it hurts everyone else more and I love to watch you all suffer.

A quartz thing?

Selfish? Says the dude who invites people to participate in crazy experiments for his viewing pleasure, dangling merch as a reward 😛

I have my watches for the sake of wearing them. Hence why the conclusion to this madness might be a reduction of my collection.

You may not be the only one coming to that conclusion.

I also own a Chronomaster, mine ran +1s in the year that I have owned it.  This may have to do with the very light wear in rotation with many other watches?

Could be fun. Hope someone brings a GS quartz to the battle for some variety. RC would be cheating. It's all fun and games until someone brings an A0100.

Your experience matches my own I've seen maybe +.5s in 6 months. I heard/read that according to the engineers, wearing the watch will give the best accuracy, as that is what it's made for.

Hahaha that is one of my biggest concerns, I've already re-adjusted the time once!

·

Seiko seems to be the leader in this contest!

I only made this choice because in August I am going on vacation and if I need a watch to wear every day I need something that goes into the water, to work, formal events, informal events, and working out.

Yeah, I am thinking way ahead for this contest

·

I don’t agree. I think I’m wearing a stunning, modern, workhorse. But if it is the blandest that is a good thing. It will work in any situation. A bit like Alec Guiness. Superb but no one remember what he looks like. Totally under the radar. In this case, a watch that will last for month to come. Big applause for all you still in the challenge💪👏👏👏

·
Davemcc

I’ve been wearing it to work every day, not just for morning coffee.  And today’s shirt is blue.  LOL

I am amazed by all of your collective confidence in succeeding.  I'm pretty much resigned that I'm going to fail every day and that it is only by sheer force of will and human stubbornness that I strap it on my wrist every morning.

The little fossil that could 😅 more like the little fossil whose owner has a psychotic level of patience and is a sucker for challenges

Says the man wearing a watch with a 150m WR.  I feel like we are not having the same challenge here 😭😂😭😂

I thought this challenge was going to be a cake walk.  I helped my wife weed the garden on the first weekend of the challenge.  A few days later I started to have Poison Ivy break out on both arms and hands.  A quick call to the doctor for Prednisone and started applying Cortisone.  I wife thought I was crazy wearing the watch over the rash.  I told her I was not giving in too easy cause winners never quit and quitters never win.
