So… Christmas is arriving and we are looking to buy a watch for my mom…
She really likes the Cartier Tank style (squared and looking like a bracelet) but since she is not really into watches we don’t want to spend a fortune for something that she wont use and wont truly appreciate…like most of us geeks.
We are just trying to find a good alternative to the Cartier with a small budget.
Quartz or mechanic doesn’t really matter but we want something reliable that she can wear everyday.
Btw she really likes the “full gold” style as well ahah
If anyone can give us some advice and some options we would really appreciate it.

Seiko make a lot of rectangular watches just search “seiko tank”.
If we're talking just sans bracelet and sub $200, the Seiko Tank is the one to beat.
Lug widths are the big drawback.here so replacing the strap is hard . the women's is 13mm I think. You can find options so definitely look.
If you're looking for an integrated bracelet ,the Bulova quadra.
There are other bulovas out there, they had many tank styles over the years.so should be able to find them easily.
Finally, if we're talking around $800 to 1k on the grey market, the Longines Dolce Vita and the Oris rectangular.
Both in many styles and form factors. Search around, I think you'll be surprised what's out there.

To be honest I kinda fell in love with that longine and Oris🥲
Now I need to reconsider if I want to buy a watch for my mom or for me… hahaha

Eye on the prize! But no one is preventing you from getting two. What says "I love you Mom" more than matching watches? 😉
Actually, those Oris rectangulars are not crazily priced especially on the used market. No idea on your budget but you could probably pick up a pair for less than $1200.
Edit: lots of very good condition Japanese models out there.

Obviously buying used is harder but if you find a good seller, it's very budget friendly

Just jumping in here as that SUP880 is massive, the Seiko Solar Tank Ladies version is SUP250. My wife has it and it's perfect, best alternative to the tank. I have the men's non solar and smaller version and think the same. You could put it on a gold spiedel (twist o flex) maybe as it's 14mm, but there's loads of bracelet options on ebay too.
