Micro Tournament Round 1 Day 7: Kurono Tokyo Vs. Code41

Rules: • Voting is based on the overall brand, not the individual model or sample photo. • There are no rules on how you should choose, but you are welcome to civilly debate quality, value, heritage, etc. • Voters are encouraged to look at the hashtags for threads on individual brands or visit their sites. • Poll closes apx 11PM ET 3/20. • Be respectful of all the brands and members, even if the vote does not go your way. This is meant to be lighthearted fun to raise awareness of 64 microbrands. • Ties will go to the brand with the most unique user-owned photos of their watch on this thread. Good luck and have fun! All posts and results will be tracked under #microtournament

This was easy. While the Code 41 is interesting and one of the better skeletonized designs I've seen (I'm not generally fond of them), the Kuronos are simply stunning. Unfortunately, their web page sucks. To have to go down to the bottom of each individual watch's page to find out they're sold out is ridiculous at best, and very off-putting. I decided not to base my pick on that but if it were a closer decision, I might have gone the other way.

Yep, the KT watches are all batch released so unless you are in the window of time to order, they are gone. Luckily, they tend to hit the after market very close to retail once the hype dies.

This one was surprisingly hard for me. I have a Kurono and it is great, but Code41 is doing so many cool designs, granted, likely still all too big for me, but I have to tip my hat. Another instance where I am was close to voting against a brand in my collection. I hope they fair better than the existing results. That would be a shame.

Interesting that Code41 breaks down the production cost before telling you the final price.

Yeah, it's one of those companies that sell out in minutes when sales windows open. I snagged a model that sold out in 3 minutes earlier this month.

No contest here . . . almost unfair to Code 41 with this match up, but so it goes.

Yeah, this one is tough. None of the mechanical art based brands faired well, but I love what they are doing.

I was thinking the same about their designs being too big but they actually have one 37mm and one 38mm in the collection :
