Micro Tournament Round 1 Day 2: Serica Vs. Stella Watch Company

Rules: • Voting is based on the overall brand, not the individual model or sample photo. • There are no rules on how you should choose, but you are welcome to civilly debate quality, value, heritage, etc. • Voters are encouraged to look at the hashtags for threads on individual brands or visit their sites. • Poll closes apx 11PM ET 3/15. • Be respectful of all the brands and members, even if the vote does not go your way. This is meant to be lighthearted fun to raise awareness of 64 microbrands. • Ties will go to the brand with the most unique user-owned photos of their watch on this thread. Good luck and have fun! All posts and results will be tracked under #microtournament

I know Serica has some problems with their diver, and I feel like that should almost take them out of the running by default. However, their watches are gorgeous. Their 4512 field watch is probably the prettiest field watch I've seen. I already have a Hamilton Khaki automatic, so I keep telling myself I don't need the Serica 4512. I still want it though.

·

Not many love for Stella I see, too bad, because they make a beautiful GMT with a lovely Ice blue dial and a Sellita SW-330 movement.

Maybe the pricing of their pieces is on the higher level for a microbrand, but still they deserve some loving 😄

I bought this to scratch the itch from the Serica 4512 California :

I have a plan to change the hands, the crown and get it on a Bonklip bracelet 😅

Though Serica has had their problems with the diver and PR, I was able to meet the guys behind the brand and handle their watches at WindUp...The guys were great and the watches felt amazing. Hopefully they can improve on the little problems

This one might be the toughest choice today. Both have interesting designs. The movement / features / quality seem similar.

Never heard of either of these brands, but in perusing their collections, I want to like the Stella, lovely retro designs and gorgeous textured dials... but that brand name font... 😬

Similarly, I like the vintage diver looks of Serica, but the lack of a brand name is a bit austere and has a feel of Aliexpress special with the "Sterile Dial" option box ticked. Tough one...

@AllTheWatches Sorry for the request for additional work, but any chance you can link their website when these are posted? Might be nice to reduce a bit of the friction in encouraging people to take a good look at each company. Currently, it's very easy for me to impulsively vote for the brand im already more familiar with.

a bit on the expensive side, but it has a SW-330 in it. Not too different from say, Oak & Oscar, who receive a lot of love

Milk, I wish I could, but WC does not allow for links in poll posts, otherwise I would absolutely do so.
