Shanghai 35 jewel automatic / circa 2005? / SB1H movement

Shanghai 8120 35 jewel automatic mechanical (SB1H) movement, very budget: purchased for $25 in 2011. Height: 11mm / width: 37mm.

Still runs fine.

All the jewels are functional, yes, but I don't know the technical distribution--except I found comments that noted the 35 jewel "B" (yet another name for the SB1H) has more jewels in the automatic module than a lower grade 26 jewel version.

None are just for decoration, and i know of another high jewel Chinese caliber that uses extra jewels as roller bearings, so maybe... ?

Love that gold bezel

Agree!

Two tone can work really nicely--but it's a delicate balance.

Out of curiosity does that 35J movement look like this one?

Yes, it does.

Thankyou, I suspected as much. The jewel count was a strong clue.

That pic I posted is the back of this Cardi Pilot Automatic I have seen on Ebay:

It seems that Cardi branched out with other movement suppliers to I suppose cut costs. Maybe the russian suppliers insisted on sharing the branding limelight but the Chinese suppliers were not so fussy.

Another Ebay example of this movement in a Cardi, this time a "Vicing" which I hope we would pronounce as "Viking":

Apart from the glaring fault in this Vicing's manual wind gear, what struck me about this movement was the number of balls in the rotor bearing. Other makers get away with far less parts there.

I would have thought that the fairly high jewel count would have been something to proudly announce on the dial but no mention front or back.

Cheers!
