Although this particular watch just has the logo, many Shuangling watches intended for export used a printed branding of "Double Rhomb" instead of the Shuangling branding on domestic Chinese versions.
Shuangling itself means either double rhomb/(rhombic) or two chestnuts (ling nuts or water caltrop).
Just as "[t]he plant's name in Japanese is hishi, a word that is also used to mean 'a diamond or lozenge shape, a rhombus,'" [Wiki], the same relationship exists with the Chinese term "ling".
Shuangling is a brand of the Beijing Watch Factory.
The watch was among a group of watches gifted to the AMCHPR collection when I visited the (private) Tianjin Watch and Clock Collector's Association Museum in 2013.
I was there as a guest of Mr. Jiang WenBo, President of the Tianjin Watch and Clock Collector's Association and Deputy Director of the Collection Research Committee of the CHA/China Horologe Association.

I think maybe you're right. I've had it since the visit in the article, but I'm not usually fond of Roman numeral dials (weird because I like Cali...). But I also never had a strap I thought "did it right".
I like it, now 😀
