Going to buy myself a Christmas Watch - think I've chosen already but let's have a poll

I feel I'm worth it. Two very different watches, both with a large following. Head is saying one, heart is saying the other. As per title: I'm pretty sure I know which one but can't hurt to get opinions from the Crunch.

Ohhh tough one sooo opposites…I mean off course I’ll get both problem solved…but it all depends on your personality…

·

Both are such beautiful watches, only thing about the grand seiko is it might lack the versatility of a daily wear or even being able to wear it more casually.

·

Buy the Grand Seiko because it comes with my admiration.  Buy the Tudor and I will think you are a schmuck.

·

I'm a Seikomaniac, So easy choice here....GS

·

Swiss because they will hold brand value better. Someday you will want to sell it and only watch nerds will know the worth of a GS.

·

It is hard, because they are both so different, Diver or Dress watch. I am huge Diver fan but between these two? I'd probably go with GS.

·

You paid HOW MUCH for a Seiko? Seriously, those watches are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Which one speaks to you?

·

It is a Grand Seiko and has an extra complication! Enough said. 🧐

·

No dive watch tudor. Have dive watch GS . I think everyone should have one GS in the collection including myself.

·

GS hands down, watch is stunning.  I like the heritage of the BB58, but doesnt draw me at all aesthetically.

·

GS FTMFW!

·

I love the gs in photos and on other ppl wrist since it shines. But on my tiny wrist it just looks odd. I love the bb58 on mine. It feels super solidly made. go with what makes u feel awesome. also i wear the bb58 biking and more day to day activity. I dont feel like i can use my dress watch everyday the same way (has a 36mm longines). so think of what u do day to day and see it fits ur lifestyle the sports watch or dressier watch. Love gs though hands so sharp.

Grand Seiko for me. Great looking dial, awesome movement and an additional complication. It's a great watch.

·

the head says GS ; the heart says Tudor. Follow your heart's inclination

·

Update: cheeky offer accepted. Deposit paid. Picking up next week. Thread delivers.

·

Get the GS - a watch is for life, not just for Xmas :D

·

Two of my favorite watches under $5k. It depends what you need. Do you need a diver/beater? Or do you need a dress watch/GMT? The GS will wear a bit bigger due to it being all dial but both wear great. I have a really hard time picking between them. I own the 58 and a GS that's very similar to this but smaller (SBGW231) and I love them both for different reasons. I guess I wear the 58 more and could throw a leather strap on it for dressy situations...I'd say go 58 this year and save up for the GS for this time next year!

·

You can't go wrong with either but as previously noted by others, it all depends on your expected use and how you dress up. The GS is quite a dressy piece especially with it's entire zaratsu polished case, where as the 58 is a fun watch that suits most occasions apart from the dressy ones... come to think of it... this would make an awesome two watch collection.

I'm gonna say the GS. I've cooled quite a bit on the BB58.

·

Both are awesome. Go with the heart.

·

It depends on your collection and personality.  I own a BB58 (no regrets, great watch) but voted for the GS. It looks nicer, will age better and has the most useful complication :D the BB58 is  better daily though.

·

I agree with others that it’s tough to answer this without hearing a little bit more about you, your collection, what you want out of a watch, how you’re going to use it, etc. They are both incredible watches. If it were me and this was my only watch, I go 58 because I like wearing divers every day. I think the GS is a better overall watch but the 58 would get worn more with me. I have a blue 58 and I love it but it is a stoic watch. If you’re looking for your watch to be exciting, the GS might be choice.

·

I would go with the BB58 and save up for the GS. I guess maybe because I just got one just last week and no regrets, in any case congratulations on the new piece and wear it in good health.

·

So just to answer some of the questions: I have around 30 watches so this would not be my only watch. My job is in tech but I often dress fairly smart so dress-ish watches as dailies work fine for me.

To put everyone out of their misery: I went with the GS which was where I was leaning anyway but coincidentally won the poll (just)

Last spring I was in Vegas looking around the Wynn area and ended up at Watches of Switzerland.   That very same GS caught my eye and I tried it on.  I talked myself out of it and started making my way out and I saw the Blue 58 in the Tudor case.  They were not as easy to find as they are now.    I tried it on and handed over the credit card on the spot.   Having said all that, I already have another GMT and a simple no-date was appealing.  You can't go wrong either way.  If logistics plays any part, the Tudor is much easier and quicker to read.  Good luck!

·

Congrats and enjoy, bud! 🍻 GS all the way! 🥳

Thread closure! Walking back from AD now.

Just bought the BB58 as my first luxury watch and now have my eyes on this GS...so my answer would be both.
