Watch Designs I have been working on

Hi members of watch crunch, I have been working on this watch design for a while and wanted to get an opinion on the design from the seasoned watch enthusiasts in our community. If this does seem like a good design I want to eventually put it into production and start my own microbrand.

Specs:

  • Diameter: 39mm

  • Lug to Lug: 46mm

  • Total Thickness (Has exhibition case back): 9.65mm

  • Based on a Sellita SW-261-1M

Any and every advice is welcome and I would like to thank you all for your thoughts on this in advance.

Beautiful! It has Joel's watch from Last of us vibe except the Arabic numerals. Beautiful design!

Nice case but to my eye the minute and hour hands look very similar in terms of shape and size making it difficult to tell the time at a glance

Yeah I see that now, I'll get that sorted, thanks for pointing it out.

Other then hands itself I would also work on the gap between strap and case. It seems too big IMO. Design is beautiful. ❤

Love the case like what the guys said earlier the hands and the gap between the strap and case … would be a domed crystal or flat? I’m really drawn on the chapter rings or minute trackers kinda cool I feel that’s the draw of the watch…

·

Maybe make the subdial hand white too.

I agree with the other comments as well.

That aside, thats a great design.

·

Handsome, I like the scalloped/concave edge with the brushing. Flat sapphire or domed?

·

Very nice I see what they mean about the hand size, though I had no issues determining which was which personally.

I love the simple clean dial, and understand the design style choice that you made when designing it so. If you were to ever do another version I would love to see 12 3 6 9 numerals on the dial. But I'm a fan of this kind of thing so just my opinion. But yes very nice design.

Maltese cross at 45 degrees? VC want a word…

·

Do you know yet what the dial finish is going to be, and at what price point you are planning to offer these watches? (Just curious ... )

·

Very interesting and unique dial. Well done!

·

It’s actually very nice but just for me I like to have a date. Also the band seems to be very far out on the lugs

·

Always glad to see a new microbrand

I’ll definitely get that sorted out, thank you for your kind words.

I was thinking if a flat sapphire so that the dial is the center of the piece, please let me know if you guys think that a domed would look much better

Hahaha yeah I am working on a Roman and an Arabic numeral chapter ring at the moment, I’ll definitely post it once I have it sorted out, thank you for your kind words

I think flat would work better and help keep the whole thing flatter on the wrist (which at under 10mm is unusual and a selling point in my view).

Hahaha I do see the resemblance but its actually ment to be a four leaf clover as I want to name my brand Vera, and both the four leaf clover and Vera represent faith/hope.

The black dial and white dial are planned to be full enamel whereas the salmon dial is supposed to be frosted and the silver/turquoise dial with a frosted silver main dial and enamel turquoise subdial. All the different dial variations are supposed to have an enamel black minute chapter. As for the price point I am looking to place it somewhere in the low to mid 1000s but it depends if I can find a good manufacturer and the price might differ based on the cost per unit.

Hahaha yeah I’ll get the band sorted out soon. And as for the date window I understand your point, it is a useful complication but it also would ruin the symmetry of such a watch but if I can find a way to incorporate it I will try.

·

I made changes to the hour hand making it easier to differentiate it from the minute hand and changed the strap holes on the lugs to sit closer to the case. I would like to thank you all for your kind wishes and amazing feedback, please feel free to provide any further criticism that would help better this design.

Looks good! I’d prefer a 38mm case and a Miyota 9000 movement to reduce overall cost and maintenance.

That does seem like a good option. I’ll definitely look into that.

·

it looks really good. the slate grey and sand blasted face with teal are my favorite renders. The black with vanta black dial would be nice if there is an ar coating on the crystal. good luck.

·

The hour hand should be fatter than the minute hand so you can still see that it’s there when the minute hand passes over it.

I think the black dial looks great.

The white dial has a bit too much going on for me. The green sun dial would look great if it weren’t competing with the strong texture on the dial or the black seconds ring. It’s too much all at once.

·

Looks awesome. I love simplistic and nice watches like this. Especially if they have an extravagant movement with a display case back to surprise the wearer. Simplicity that hides extravagance one could say.
