Nixon - The Spencer - Nixon Round 3
So, this is my third Nixon and my third #nwa about Nixon. To recap: the first was a Time Teller that I am a huge fan of. The second was a Cannon that was a misfire (see what I did there 😉). Now for the tiebreaker: The Spencer.
First, the size. It’s large. Case size: 45MM. Width: 12MM Band Width: 24MM. Normally, this would be a negative for me, but it works with this watch. Also, you would think it would be heavy and you’d be right. But it weighs virtually the same as the Cannon. Which is a 40MM.
Second, the obvious extra feature. Along with the analog dial, you might have noticed a digital time at 8. This is very cool. I’ve seen iterations of this but not done with this kind of style. I like how it’s a small detail on the dial and not a fully integrated dual timepiece.
Third, the style. Sure, it’s a big, clunky, metal watch. But it has a mid-century layout and color scheme that I really like. And the fact that the LCD is part of the design makes it even better.
So, for me personally, Nixon is two for three. A pretty good record. I still think Nixon is trying to be the new Swatch but, mostly achieving the new Fossil. If you’re going to do “style over substance” then you better be pretty damn stylish. A lot of what Nixon has to offer misses the mark. But they do have a few pretty cool looking pieces. These aren’t great timepieces but, if you need a cool looking watch, you could do worse.

Is the digital window simply a repetition of the analog time or is it multi-functional? (date/stopwatch) If it is a repetition is it keeping the same time or will the two times eventually vary?
If it's just a redundant feature then this is a hard pass.
Plus, IMO, the hands are too short.

It’s not a repetition. It’s set separately. It has an alarm and lume.
Also, my son doesn’t have gout.
