Daily Decision Process

How do you decide which watch will be on your wrist each morning?  In short, I’m sure “it depends.“  Dressy or casual attire. Matching colors on your outfit, etc. But are there other common patterns for selecting a timepiece?

Do you ever pick your attire based on a watch you want to wear?

Do you rotate your watches on a consistent schedule?

Maybe traveling and need a GMT.

What other criteria do you use to make your selection each day?

Just depends on features I need and temperature.

If it's super hot probably my g shock.

I only have 3 watches so the choice isn't hard.

I posted this months ago, but it is still the case:

In terms of collection, I just stare at them all and go:

  • what was I wearing and do I want to wear it again
  • what haven’t I worn in a while
  • who deserves a wearing (I’m looking at you Oris ChronOris, you ungrateful ****)
  • what am I doing that day
  • wind the Sapho because I’m paranoid
  • pick something, find it’s not working, shout at it. Maybe change the battery or shake it.
  • wind Sapho again, but it’s at the max so stop
  • wonder why I have so many watches. Ponder life choices.
  • remind myself to change strap on Majex - forget by the end of this sent…
  • close my eyes and point at watch randomly.
  • change mind, grab first choice; realise I’m late for work

Often it’s based on what I’m planning to cook for dinner. Pasta? I’m definitely picking a diver or chronograph.

·

since i got a small collection with every genre then it is depends on the occasion. but usually something like this:

work: field watch, flieger, or digital watch

casual/hangout: diver or gmt

travelling: also diver or gmt

formal occasion: dresswatch

I have a large spinning wheel , operated by a full time Z list celebrity , various options of my collection are dipcited on said wheel.

As I rise from my sleeping chamber I cast gold coins into the face of my subordinate as I shout "SPIN ME MINION "

Then just carry on with my day....

I look at purpose first. What am I going to do today?

Swim or hot tub: Going to need at least 200m of water resistance.

Working on my laptop: Is 1000 gauss enough?

Hiking: What’s the likelihood I’m navigating out of the woods for 72 hours?

Smoking a brisket: Going to need a chronograph in case my digital thermometer with Bluetooth fails.

Exposed to chemicals: 904L steel is the only option.

Have to call grandma in eastern time zone: She’s an hour ahead so need a GMT…True GMT cuz office GMPs are for b*****s.

High pollen count: …you get the idea.

Once my purpose built watch has been selected, I find an outfit that matches the situation.

·

Doesn’t everyone buy clothes to match their favorite watch? Watch first, then outfit.

·

I don’t pick based on occasion but rather remove options based on what I’m doing. Wrenching/working? Something that won’t get ruined like a Casio or a sapphire crystal. Going to get wet? No leather straps.  usually narrows it down to 4 or 5 options lol

I have an exciting method of choosing my watch for the day. I look at my watches and think 'which one shall I wear today?'  I pick up the chosen one and put it on my wrist.

I decide on it the night before going to bed, because I cannot be bothered to make decisions first thing in the morning. So yes, I know before falling asleep which watch I will put on the next day.

·

At home, I am wearing whatever I am feeling like. But for different occasions I choose a specific watch, like Casio Edifice for the weekend casual activities like family lunch, Casio Royale and SGW100 for the day to day activities, while SGW100 doubles as the tough watch if I ever need to do some action, A158 if I want a lightweight casual wear, and a vintage Technos if I am feeling fancy

Looks out window..."raining? I'll need something with good WR."

Looks out window ..."sunny? Don't need to think about WR."

·

I’ve built my collection so that with the exception of one or two dressier watches, every watch can be worn pretty much for any occasion. This probably means that my taste for watches are more boring/conservative. Blue/black/white dials, subtle/non-flashy styling. I guess this means I’m a boring person!

·

I check the watch boxes and when this happens

I strap it on.

Sounds like me!

I choose a watch to wear based on 2 things ; occasion and my cloth

But sometimes the watch I want to wear is the reason for those 2 things so.. 🤷
